GORKI White Nights 24 HRS Tournament - YEAR 2014
While the whole world was watching the FIFA World Cup, GORKI Golf Club in the middle of the White Nights from 21 to 22 June, hosted the first White Nights 24 HRS Golf Tournament.
The real marathon began on June 21 at 12.00 and ended on 22 June at 12.00. During 24 hours six teams, watching sunrises and sunsets, struggling with sleep, tiredness and weather, played 78 holes and went 40 kilometers.
The tournament included 3 game formats:
Stroke Play 2 Ball
Stroke Play Better Ball
The chosen formats allowed all golfers to play with each other.
The tournament was attended by two teams of Mace Company, Russian team composed of representatives of the AGR, GORKI Golf Club team, team of Nevsky Town Hall Company and team of the British Consulate (British Foreign Office).
St. Petersburg pleased the golfers a real Scottish weather. During the day the sportsmen had to compete in conditions of strong wind, hot sun, sometimes even rain. The famous "White Nights" appeared to be not so white - all this made the competition even more fun and exciting.
During the breaks all the participants and guests enjoyed real Scotch whiskey, great Hungarian cuisine by the chef Lazlo Dori and watched the FIFA World Cup. Extreme weather conditions united all the tournament participants: during two days of event all of them have become a big happy family.
